WATERLOO-OXFORD
WHAT TO EXPECT
First days of anything can be scary, especially when you do not know what to expect. This page will take you through what your first day may look like!

FIRST STEP IN
When you first arrive at the school, you will see lots of students from our leadership class called ‘SAC” wearing green shirts and ringing cow bells. (They would normally be by the bus turn around at the right side of the school) If you have any questions, feel free to ask them! They will point you in the direction of the door, take a deep breath, then walk in.

MEETING YOUR TEACHER
When you walk in, you’ll see more students wearing green shirts that will be holding welcome signs. These students will direct you into the big gym where you will find your homeroom teacher. Prior to the first day, you should have received your schedule and know your homeroom teacher. On the walls of the big gym, there will be posters with the names of teachers, and you need to look for the poster with your homeroom teacher's name on it. Once you find it, go and wait in that area. This is a great opportunity to talk to new people who are in your class and to see who your teacher is!

GOING TO YOUR CLASSROOM
Once the bell rings at 8:10, your teacher will personally take you and the other students in your class to your homeroom classroom! In your homeroom, your teacher will most likely go over the gator guide with you (a poster of rules about the school), and your teacher will introduce you to Waterloo-Oxford!

CONTINUING YOUR DAY
All four classes are 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Period 1: 8:10 - 9:25
Period 2: 9:30 - 10:45
LUNCH: 10:45 - 11:45
Period 3: 11:45 - 1:00
Period 4: 1:05 - 2:20
Note that period 3 and 4 switch weekly. Click the button below to see the PDF timetable.
If you have any questions about where your classes are, don’t be shy and ask any older students or teachers!

END OF
THE DAY
You did it! You finished your first day of grade 9! Don’t be worried if it feels different, because going to high school is a big change and it takes some getting used to! Once the last bell rings at 2:20, gather your things and if you have a bus you're taking home, go to the bus turn-around and find out whether your bus is the first round or second round and where it is positioned on the bus map. This can be confusing so if you have any questions make sure to ask the hall monitors who are usually outside by the bus turn-around at the end of the day.
